I bought it in a charity shop, cancer research to be more specific!
This album is a mix of R&B, Electropop and pop, however, songs like "freak like me" and "round and round" have influences of dance and electronic music. This album was released in 2002.
This album was released in 26th of August 2002 under Universal Island Records, which was Sugababe's second studio album. However, this was the debut of the newest member Heide Range, who replaced Siobhán Donaghy who left shortly after their debut album in 2001 due to personal differences with the band.
Not only did one of the co-founders of the group left, but they were also dropped by their original record label, London Records, but they were able to sign with Universal Island Records just in time for their second album.
The song "angels with dirty faces" was also featured in the film 'Power Puff Girls Movie' released on the 18th of October 2002.
★ means its my favourite song
ps. my CD is the original 11 track version, whilst the back cover image is the deluxe edition with 3 extra bonus tracks!
These three songs are honestly my favourites in the entire album, however, it can be such a whiplash, whenever i listen to the CD because virgin sexy is a song about having sex for the first time. It explores both the chemical reaction, feeling empowered whilst on the dance floor but also a sense of nervousness? Like if it's truly the right time to take that step further and loose your virginity.
then after the song finished, you're created by a much slower song, shape. Which is about exploring your personal identity, and breaking away from societal and patriarchal expectations. It specifically explores living in a mans world in it's first verse. Which is kind of a whiplash when the last song was about sex, and feeling empowered lol.
then AFTER that songs ends, youre pulled back into an upbeat, empowering song about leaving unsatisfactory relationships. All three together make sense, they all have similar themes of personal identity but it's ... still such a whiplash XD
